Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda – City Tour & Cultural Introduction

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport on your 30 Days East Africa Safari, you will be warmly welcomed by our safari representative who will brief you about your 30 Days Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya & Tanzania Safari. After a short introduction, you’ll transfer to your hotel for check-in and relaxation.

In the afternoon, set out for a Kigali city tour, beginning with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a moving and powerful tribute to Rwanda’s resilience and unity after the tragic 1994 events. From there, head to the Inema Arts Center, where you’ll discover the creative spirit of modern Rwanda through colorful art and local crafts.

Day 2: Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park (Home of the Mountain Gorillas)

After breakfast at your hotel, begin  your day 2 of 30 Days East Africa Safari scenic journey from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park, located in the lush highlands of northern Rwanda. The drive takes about 2.5 to 3 hours, passing through rolling hills, terraced farms, and picturesque countryside — a perfect introduction to Rwanda’s breathtaking landscapes.

Along the way, you’ll make a few photographic stops at panoramic viewpoints and local markets to capture Rwanda’s beauty and meet friendly residents. Upon arrival in Musanze town, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park, check in at your lodge nestled at the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes.

The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movement. Upon arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, check into your lodge, perched on the lake’s edge, and take some time to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings. The afternoon is dedicated to leisure and exploration. You can take a boat ride across the calm waters of the lake, visit some of the islands, or simply enjoy the peaceful scenery from your lodge.

Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi – Leisure and Cultural Activities

Upon arrival at the park, check in at your lodge and enjoy a light lunch. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is renowned for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, Uganda kob, and hippos. This is an ideal time to spot predators such as lions and leopards, as well as other wildlife like elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, warthogs, and various antelope species. The early hours offer the best lighting for photography and a chance to observe animal behavior in the cooler part of the day.

Return to your lodge for a late morning rest and lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, one of the park’s highlights. After breakfast at your lodge, check out and begin your journey to Kibale Forest National Park, a scenic drive of about 4 to 5 hours. The route takes you through the lush countryside, tea plantations, and small traditional villages, offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy Uganda’s natural beauty and rural charm.

Arrive in Fort Portal town, nestled in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains, and stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Fort Portal is known for its vibrant atmosphere and stunning scenery, making it a pleasant stop before continuing to Kibale.

In the afternoon, proceed to your lodge near Kibale Forest National Park, home to one of the highest concentrations of primates in Africa, including chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys.

Depending on your arrival time, you may take an optional guided walk through the nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation project that is excellent for birding and cultural encounters. The walk offers a chance to spot colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and a variety of bird species like the great blue turaco.

Day 10: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest National Park

Start your day 10 of 30 Days East Africa Safari with an early breakfast at your lodge, then transfer to the Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Afterward, you’ll set off into the tropical rainforest for an exhilarating chimpanzee tracking experience.

Kibale Forest is home to the highest density of chimpanzees in East Africa, along with 12 other primate species such as red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus, and L’Hoest’s monkeys. As you trek through the lush forest, you’ll be surrounded by the sounds of chattering primates, rustling leaves, and bird calls echoing through the canopy.

Once you locate a chimpanzee troop, spend up to one unforgettable hour observing their fascinating behaviors — grooming, feeding, playing, or resting high in the trees. Your ranger guide will share insights into their social structures, communication, and similarities to humans.

Day 11: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Hoima

After an early breakfast, depart Kibale Forest for Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area. The drive takes approximately 6 to 7 hours, passing through scenic countryside, traditional villages, and the bustling town of Hoima — the cultural heart of the Bunyoro Kingdom.

You’ll enjoy a lunch stop in Hoima town or along the way before continuing your journey north. As you travel, the landscape gradually changes from lush forest and farmlands to open savannah dotted with palm trees, giving you a taste of the wilderness that awaits.

Arrive at Murchison Falls National Park in the late afternoon and check in at your lodge, situated near the Nile River or within the park’s northern savannah plains. If time allows, take a short evening drive to catch your first glimpse of Uganda’s iconic wildlife — including elephants, giraffes, and antelopes — as they graze under the fading golden light.

Day 12: Game Drive & Nile River Boat Safari – Murchison Falls National Park

Start your day 12 of the 30 Days East Africa Safari early with a hot cup of coffee or tea before heading out for a morning game drive on the northern banks of the Nile, where the park’s open savannah teems with wildlife. The early hours are perfect for spotting predators such as lions and leopards returning from their night hunts, as well as herds of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kob, oribi, and Jackson’s hartebeest grazing in the soft morning light.

Your guide will help identify the various animal species and explain their behaviors, while you enjoy the scenic beauty of Murchison Falls National Park, with its sweeping grasslands and distant escarpments. Don’t forget your camera — this is one of the best wildlife photography moments of the trip.

Return to your lodge for breakfast and some relaxation before lunch. In the afternoon, embark on an unforgettable boat safari along the Nile River to the base of the magnificent Murchison Falls. As you glide upriver, you’ll see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and buffaloes along the riverbanks, as well as numerous bird species like African fish eagles, bee-eaters, and kingfishers.

The boat stops near the base of the falls, where the Nile dramatically squeezes through a narrow gorge before plunging 45 meters into the Devil’s Cauldron — a breathtaking display of nature’s power. You may choose to disembark and hike to the top of the falls for a closer look at the roaring cascade and panoramic views of the park.

Day 13: Explore the Top of Murchison Falls – Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Wake up to the peaceful sounds of the Nile and enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your lodge. Afterward, set out to visit the top of Murchison Falls, one of Uganda’s most powerful natural wonders. Here, the mighty Nile River — the world’s longest — is forced through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging 45 meters into the roaring Devil’s Cauldron below. The sight and sound of the rushing water create an awe-inspiring experience and offer excellent photography opportunities.

Spend some time exploring the viewpoints around the falls, capturing panoramic shots of the mist rising above the cliffs and rainbows forming in the spray. Your guide will share the history and legends surrounding this iconic site, including its discovery by early explorers such as Sir Samuel Baker.

After this incredible experience, begin your journey toward Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, located about 3 to 4 hours away, near Nakasongola. Along the way, enjoy a picnic or lunch en route, driving through beautiful countryside and small trading centers.

Arrive at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in the afternoon, check in at your lodge, and relax before your next adventure. Later in the day, take a short guided nature walk around the sanctuary to observe some of Uganda’s reintroduced white rhinos in their natural habitat. This sanctuary is the only place in the country where you can see rhinos in the wild, completing the Big Five experience.

Day 14: Rhino Tracking at Ziwa – Transfer to Jinja (Source of the Nile)

After an early breakfast at your lodge, meet your ranger guide for an exciting rhino tracking experience at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This protected reserve is home to over 30 southern white rhinos, reintroduced to Uganda after being extinct in the wild since the 1980s.

With your guide, take a short drive and then continue on foot through the sanctuary’s savannah and bushland to locate the rhinos. This thrilling walk offers a rare opportunity to observe these magnificent animals up close in their natural environment, while learning about their behavior, diet, and the conservation efforts that have helped restore their population. Along the way, you might also spot other wildlife, including bushbucks, oribi, and various bird species.

The drive takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, passing through beautiful countryside, sugarcane plantations, and small roadside towns.

Day 15: Explore Jinja – Source of the Nile Experience & Optional Adventures

Today is all about exploring Jinja, Uganda’s adventure and relaxation capital, where the legendary Nile begins its long journey to the Mediterranean Sea.

Start your day with a boat cruise to the Source of the Nile, where the river emerges from Lake Victoria. As you glide across the calm waters, your guide will share fascinating stories about John Speke’s discovery of the Nile in the 19th century and the cultural significance of this mighty river. After breakfast at your lodge in Entebbe, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your flight to Nairobi, Kenya. Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you’ll be welcomed by your Kenyan safari guide and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi.

Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the hotel or enjoy a short city drive to see Nairobi’s highlights, such as the Karen Blixen Museum, the Giraffe Centre, or local craft markets. Your guide will provide insights into Nairobi’s culture, history, and its role as the gateway to Kenya’s famed safari destinations.

Day 21: Morning Game Drive in Amboseli – Transfer to Naivasha

After an early breakfast on  your day 21 of 30 Days East Africa Safari at your lodge, embark on a morning game drive in Amboseli National Park. The early hours offer the best chance to observe elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and zebras in their natural habitat, with the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro providing a stunning backdrop for photography. Your guide will provide information about animal behavior and the park’s unique ecosystem.

Return to your lodge for a quick refreshment and check out. Begin the road transfer to Lake Naivasha, located approximately 6 to 7 hours away. The drive takes you through scenic Kenyan landscapes, including small towns, agricultural areas, and the scenic Great Rift Valley. Stop along the way for refreshments and photo opportunities.

Day 22: Lake Naivasha – Crescent Island Walk & Transfer to Nairobi

After breakfast at your lodge, embark on a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, enjoying the serene waters and abundant wildlife. From the boat, you’ll have the chance to spot hippos, waterbucks, and numerous bird species, including African fish eagles, pelicans, and cormorants.

Next, take a guided walking safari on Crescent Island, a private sanctuary on the lake. This predator-free island is home to zebras, giraffes, impalas, waterbucks, and other antelopes, which roam freely, allowing for up-close wildlife viewing. Walking among these gentle animals provides a unique and immersive experience, with excellent photography opportunities.

Day 23: Nairobi – Flight to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania – Transfer to Tarangire National Park

After an early breakfast at your Nairobi hotel, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for a short flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your Tanzanian safari guide and begin the drive to Tarangire National Park, approximately 2 to 3 hours from the airport.

Arrive at Tarangire in the early afternoon and embark on your first game drive in the park, famous for its large elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and abundant wildlife. Spot animals such as lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and impalas, along with numerous bird species including hornbills, kingfishers, and fish eagles. The afternoon game drive offers excellent opportunities for photography with the park’s scenic landscapes as a backdrop.

Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at your lodge or lodge restaurant overlooking the stunning crater highlands. In the afternoon, take a short game drive along the crater rim or explore the surrounding highlands. This is an excellent opportunity to spot wildlife such as zebras, gazelles, wildebeests, and sometimes hyenas, as well as enjoy panoramic views of the famous Ngorongoro Crater below.
