Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for your second gorilla trekking experience, witnessing the gentle giants up-close in one of the most biodiverse forests in the world. The safari also includes a visit to Lake Mutanda, a picturesque lake surrounded by rolling hills and volcanoes, perfect for relaxation, canoeing, and photography.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Arrive at Kigali International Airport where you will be warmly welcomed by your driver-guide. Take a brief Kigali city tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, vibrant markets, and local craft centres. Later, transfer through Rwanda’s scenic countryside to Volcanoes National Park, the home of the endangered mountain gorillas.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking briefing. Venture into the lush rainforest in search of a gorilla family – an unforgettable encounter as you watch them feed, play, and interact. In the afternoon, you may relax at your lodge or opt for a cultural village visit to meet the local community.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking – Cross to Uganda (Mgahinga)
Begin your day with a trek to see the playful golden monkeys, an endangered primate species only found in the Virunga Volcanoes. Later, drive across the Cyanika border into Uganda and proceed to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, a beautiful park nestled between dramatic volcanic peaks.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga National Park (Uganda)
Today you set out for your second gorilla trek – this time in the jungles of Uganda. Each trek is a unique experience; no two encounters are ever the same. Spend a magical hour observing the gorilla family before trekking back. The afternoon is free to relax or take a nature walk through the forest and surrounding communities.
Day 5: Lake Mutanda Canoeing & Community Experience
After breakfast, drive to the stunning Lake Mutanda, one of Uganda’s most beautiful crater lakes. Enjoy a canoe ride across its calm waters, framed by views of the Virunga volcanoes. Day 6: Return to Kigali – Departure
After a relaxed breakfast, drive back to Kigali, crossing the border into Rwanda. Depending on your flight time, enjoy some last-minute shopping before transferring to Kigali International Airport for your onward journey.
