Detailed Itinerary of 8 Days Bwindi & Mount Elgon
Day 1 : Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Your driver-guide will meet you and begin the scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, enjoying views of rolling hills, tea plantations, and vibrant rural villages. Stop along the way for photos or short breaks. Check in at your forest lodge, freshen up, and relax after your journey. In the evening, enjoy a hearty dinner at the lodge, preparing for your gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2 : Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for registration and a ranger briefing before setting off to track a mountain gorilla family. Trek through Bwindi’s dense rainforest, navigating hills and forest trails. The trek may take 2–6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements, with chances to spot birds and other wildlife along the way.
Once located, spend one unforgettable hour observing the gorillas up close as they feed, groom, and interact in their natural habitat.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, choose optional activities such as a Batwa cultural visit, community walk, or guided birding/nature walk. Enjoy dinner at the lodge in the evening.

Day 3 : Transfer to Mount Elgon Region
After breakfast, depart Bwindi and drive through southwestern Uganda’s scenic landscapes, passing rolling farmland, small villages, and hills. Stop for photos or a light snack en route. Arrive in the Mount Elgon region in the afternoon and check in at your lodge or base camp. Spend the rest of the day resting, exploring the surroundings, or enjoying lodge amenities while preparing for your hike.

Day 4 : Trek Start: Sasa Gate → Wagagai Camp
Enjoy an early breakfast before transferring to Sasa Gate, the starting point of your Mount Elgon hike, for registration and a short briefing. Begin trekking through farmland, lush forest, heath, and moorland as the scenery and climate gradually change with altitude. Along the way, enjoy scenic viewpoints and chances to spot monkeys, birds, and butterflies.
Arrive at Wagagai Camp in the late afternoon, where you can relax and unwind. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 5 : Wagagai → Budadiri Camp (via Hunter’s Cave & Caldera Rim)

The trail offers stunning scenery, including giant lobelia plants, rocky ridges, and sweeping valley views. Along the way, visit Hunter’s Cave, hot springs, and the dramatic Suam Gorge, stopping for photos and a packed lunch.
Ascend to the rim of the caldera, enjoying panoramic views of the vast crater before descending toward Budadiri Camp. Arrive in the late afternoon, relax, and enjoy a well-earned dinner at camp.

Day 6 : Summit Mount Elgon → Descend to Budadiri Camp
Wake up very early and enjoy tea or coffee before setting off for your summit attempt of Mount Elgon. At the summit, take time to rest, capture photos, and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the vast caldera and the Uganda–Kenya border.
After celebrating your achievement, begin the long descent, passing caves, streams, and scenic landscapes on your way back toward camp. Arrive at Budadiri Camp in the late afternoon for relaxation and a well-earned dinner, marking your final night on the mountain.
