Detailed Itinerary of 7 Days Mara Amboseli & Gorillas

Day 1 : Nairobi to Amboseli National Park (Afternoon Game Drive)

 You will meet your driver-guide and depart around 6:30 AM for a scenic 4–5-hour drive south to Amboseli National Park, passing local towns, markets, and open countryside. As you approach the park, the majestic silhouette of Mount Kilimanjaro gradually appears on the horizon, creating a stunning welcome to your safari.

Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in time for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive across Amboseli’s open plains and marshlands, famous for large elephant herds, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and abundant birdlife. Enjoy beautiful sunset views over Kilimanjaro before returning to camp for dinner and a restful evening.

Day 2 : Full-Day Safari in Amboseli National Park

Start the day with an early sunrise game drive when wildlife is most active, offering excellent chances to spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and predators such as lions or leopards. Amboseli is renowned for its large elephant herds and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, providing incredible photography opportunities. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation during the midday heat, with an optional Maasai village visit to experience local culture. Later, head out for an afternoon or sunset game drive across the plains and swamps before returning for dinner.

Day 3 : Amboseli → Fly to Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, transfer to the Amboseli airstrip for your scheduled domestic flight to the world-famous Maasai Mara. Enjoy scenic aerial views of Kenya’s diverse landscapes, including the Great Rift Valley and vast savannah plains. Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your lodge or tented camp for lunch. In the afternoon, head out for your first Mara game drive, exploring the rolling grasslands in search of the Big Five and other wildlife. During migration season, you may witness dramatic wildebeest and zebra crossings at the Mara River.

Day 4 : Full-Day Safari in Maasai Mara

Spend the entire day exploring the vast plains of the Maasai Mara on extended game drives with a packed picnic lunch. Track predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs, visit the Mara River to spot hippos and crocodiles, and explore wildlife-rich areas like Musiara Marsh and Paradise Plain. The reserve is home to the Big Five, large herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, and countless antelopes. Between July and October, you may witness the dramatic Great Wildebeest Migration crossings. Optional experiences include an early morning hot air balloon safari with a bush breakfast or a Maasai village visit. Return to camp in the late afternoon for relaxation, sundowners, and dinner by the fire.

Day 5 : Fly to Nairobi → Kigali → Transfer to Bwindi

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your domestic flight back to Nairobi, then connect to your international flight to Kigali, Rwanda. Upon arrival, meet your driver-guide and begin a scenic drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and lively rural villages before crossing into Uganda and continuing to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive at your forest lodge in the evening, check in, and relax as you prepare for the next day’s unforgettable gorilla trekking experience.

Day 6 : Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for registration and a briefing from experienced rangers before starting your guided trek through the dense rainforest.

The trek may last 2–6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once found, spend one magical hour observing the mountain gorillas up close — watching them feed, groom, and interact in their natural habitat. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife experience.

Return to the lodge for relaxation. Optional community or cultural visits are available.

Day 7 : Transfer to Entebbe/Kigali → Departure
