Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Bwindi, Uganda
After arriving at Kigali International Airport, you’ll meet your driver-guide for the scenic 2-3 hour transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The route passes rolling hills, tea plantations, and local villages, with optional stops at viewpoints, Lake Mutanda, or Lake Bunyonyi. In the evening, check into your lodge near your assigned sector—options include Buhoma Lodge, Four Gorillas Lodge, or Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge. Enjoy dinner, organize your permits and documents, and rest early for your first gorilla trek the next morning.
Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking Experience
Wake up early and arrive at the park headquarters for registration and briefing. Trek into the forest with your ranger guides to track your assigned gorilla family, which can take 2–6 hours depending on their location. Spend one hour observing and photographing the gorillas at a safe distance, watching them feed, play, and interact. Return to your lodge for lunch and relax, then enjoy dinner and rest after your first unforgettable encounter.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trek or Optional Activities
After breakfast, embark on your second gorilla trek, possibly in a different sector for a new family encounter. Alternatively, choose other park activities such as birdwatching, nature walks, or a visit to local communities. Trekking again allows you to deepen your understanding of gorilla behavior and capture different photographic opportunities. Return to your lodge in the afternoon, enjoy the peaceful forest surroundings, and have dinner.
Day 4: Departure – Transfer Back to Kigali
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin the scenic drive back to Kigali, enjoying the rolling hills, tea plantations, and optional stops along the way.
